Understanding and Applying The CCR Standards: Regional Workshops from the Science Faculty Collaborative.
(various dates during the 2012-2013 academic year)
This workshop introduces the College and Career Readiness Initiative to higher education faculty within the facilitators’ geographic region. The workshop also models ideas for application of the first five process standards in the CCR-standards. These process standards are (I) Nature of Science, (II) Scientific Applications of Mathematics, (III and IV) Information/Communication Technology, and (V) Cross-Disciplinary Themes. Each workshop will target attendees within a 20 mile radius of the venue.
The Science Faculty Collaborative is excited to be able to deliver regional workshops to science and science education faculty, introducing the College and Career Readiness Standards in Science, and providing examples of ways the standards can be incorporated into classroom instruction. Topics covered in the workshops may include: Nature of Science, Information & Communication Technologies, Scientific Applications of Mathematics, cross-disciplinary themes, and team-based learning.
Facilitators are currently planning workshops. As they are announced, they will be posted to this website. Please check back regularly for updates on workshops in your area.
